Dover Foxcroft, ME – June 01, 2024 – Piscataquis Regional Food Center announces a new funding initiative in response to a 200% rise in program registration in the first year. An anonymous donor has agreed to match all donations up to $10,000 this summer.
PRFC is looking for 100 local individuals, businesses, and organizations to join the Maine Highlands Hunger Fighters to help the agency respond to the overwhelming need for food in Piscataquis County.
“The need for food assistance is always higher in the summer, when families struggle to replace free school meals,” said Piscataquis Regional Food Center Executive Director, Kelly Sirimoglu.
The Food Center in Dover Foxcroft has experienced a 200% increase in program participation in one year, with more than 600 households registered to shop in the Food Center’s marketplace.
"The need in our community continues to grow and food prices continue to climb,” Sirimoglu continued. “the opportunity to match donations dollar for dollar means that every donation has twice the impact, and will help the Food Center continue our mission to provide access to healthy and nutritious food.”
