Have you heard of the new and only brewery in Piscataquis County? Bissell Brothers Three Rivers opened tis newest taproom this summer in Milo. Bissell Brothers opened their first taproom in Portland in 2013. According to a recent Bangor Daily News article when the Bissell Brothers Peter and Noah decided it was time to expand, they only had one place in mind, home. "If we were going to move to expand outside of Portland, it had to be Milo. It had to be home," Peter Bissell stated. Being part of revitalizing rural communities is another reason they are moving their newest taproom to Milo. Last year they began giving back to the communities who have made their business successful. We are excited to be part of the Bissell Brothers Brewery 2018 "4 Weeks of Giving."
Each week of December, the Bissell Brothers have chosen to give back to local and national campaigns to help communities. In addition to PRFC, Bissell Brothers have chosen Toys for Tots, P.E.T.S. Piscataquis County, and Park Street Outreach as the 2018 non-profits to support. Bissell Brothers have also sponsored the Free Summer Meals Program which is run by the town of Milo and MSAD 41. It is through the Free Summer Meals Program that the Bissell Brothers first learned of PRFC.
The way Bissell Brothers 4 Weeks of Giving works is that a portion of all sales made at either Bissell Brothers location on Sunday December 16th will be matched by the Bissell Brothers and donated to PRFC. They will also be collecting non-perishable food items and household goods from Dec. 14-16th. You can see a list of top ten items food cupboards need on our website. We are honored and humbled by Bissell Brothers generosity as well as the generosity of everyone involved in helping PRFC further its mission to end hunger and help individuals and farms with services they need to produce and acquire healthy food.
