Word about our work is getting around fast! Our building isn't up to capacity yet and we are overflowing with gleaned produce for the food cupboards!
What is gleaned produce? Gleaning is the act of gathering grains or produce left behind after a harvest. We had some local farms, including Stutzman's Farm Stand and Brick Oven Cafe as well as Moss Flower Farm, contact us about gleaned produce they wanted to donate to our local food cupboards. Thanks to their generosity plus a few others we have over 1,000 lbs of butternut squash and potatoes, as well as 24 crates of apples. This produce will be distributed to the Dover Foxcroft Area Food Cupboard, Unitarian Universalist Church Food Cupboard (Sangerville), and Milo Ecumenical Food Cupboard.
We are so excited to see the possibilities of what is come once we have our refrigeration and freezer units installed and ready to store food. This is just the beginning!
